Hey everyone, it’s me, Skaha, your favourite Labrador Retriever and Pacific Assistance Dog in training, checking in with my 13-month update.

This month started like last month ended, with my raisers being away, so I was off enjoying time with one of PADS wonderful sitters. Being at a sitter’s means new routines, new smells, and someone who usually falls for my perfect puppy-dog eyes.

October also brought one of my favourite things ever, any guesses……yep it’s the leaves. They were everywhere, and I had the best time running through them, rolling in them, and pouncing on every crunchy pile I could find.

I also had lots of shopping outings, visiting Canadian Tire, Walmart, Costco, and Don-O-Ray’s Market, where I practiced my distraction skills and worked on staying calm around busy people, carts, and all the delicious smells.

Halloween was another highlight; I had fun checking out all the decorated houses and costumes, and at home, I got to try on a few costumes. My favourite was definitely the dinosaur one.

The biggest event this month, though, was my spay surgery. Everything went great, but it meant I had to chillax for a couple of weeks with no classes, wearing some funky pyjamas to make sure I didn’t lick my incision. While I recovered, I spent lots of time snoozing in front of the fireplace, enjoying the warmth and taking things easy.

That about sums up my October, lots of fall fun, some new adventures, and a bit of healing time. Until next month… Skaha out.

Bonus Pupdate:

Skaha came to me for a sit having just finished her heat. She was eager to be out and about and was very excited to see other dogs and people. She tends to be high-energy and has difficulty settling. She is learning side and heel while I am seated and on a perch. She has a strong recall and also plays ‘find it,’ ‘bring it,’ and ‘drop it’ with her toys very well. So far, not a big fan of brushing her teeth, getting brushed, or having her paws dried after muddy walks. She has a sweet disposition and loves lots of cuddles.
