March has been such a milestone month for Spring II! Now that she is fully vaccinated, her world has opened up so much, and she is taking it all in with her signature sweetness. Although her growth has slowed a bit, she ended the month at a sturdy 34 lbs and celebrated with a brand-new, large bed that she immediately claimed as her favourite nap spot. She also got a stylish new hot pink collar to match her growing personality!

The biggest highlight this month was finally getting the clear to meet other dogs. Spring is incredibly excited to make new friends, and we have been practicing sitting calmly and greeting both people and animals politely. She is naturally very gentle and rarely barks, which made her a total star during her first vet visit; the vet was completely enamoured with how well-behaved she was. She also had a blast on puppy walking dates at Queen’s Park in New West, where she met fellow PADS pups Hope, Teenie, Fergus, and Glover. Whether she was frolicking at the park, practicing her recall, or seeing snow for the first time, her joy was contagious. She seems to especially love this season named after her, particularly the blooming cherry blossom trees!

Spring also had a very busy social calendar with several volunteering opportunities. She spent time with the Douglas College vet tech program, helping students practice their skills, and represented PADS at a Whitecaps game booth, where she was a huge hit with the fans. We’ve taken her to various grocery stores, coffee shops, and restaurants, and she is often so quiet and well-behaved that people don’t even notice she’s there until we are leaving. She even hosted a “Spring into Spring” party for our human friends, who were all so impressed by how calm she is and how many skills she has mastered at such a young age. She is such a smart girl that she even taught herself to sit by the door when she needs to go potty!
