Tahsis had a December full of new experiences and growth. After spending a month as her Advanced Training Sitter, we have slowly gotten to know each other better. We discovered that Tahsis loves carrots but is still deciding about vacuums, and we are working on that with her.
We went to the cinema, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and many houses for Christmas events this month. We went to the grocery store, the gym, and to work every day. She is a great downtown walker. Tahsis was playful and loving at these venues and worked on ensuring that she kept all four paws on the ground.
Tahsis’ recall remains excellent, and she is very food-motivated. Every day, we can hold longer “sits” and “downs,” her beautiful face is always attentive to mine while she is on a loose leash walk. At the dog park, regardless of the excitement, she’ll run back to me.
Tahsis is an office superstar who has brought much companionship and love to the BC Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions. Multiple coworkers and even the Deputy Minister got to know her, love her, and depend on her to cheer them up on particularly difficult days. She is the talk of the hallways! I am proud of this city girl, Tahsis. She patiently waited at intersections, for elevators and during elevator rides without rushing. On behalf of the Vancouver team of the BC MMHA, we all thank her for all the work she did with us!
Tahsis is generally laid-back but has a strong passion for playing. She is a very good sniffer and is skilled at finding things. She is also very determined! Tahsis is a loving and trusting dog. Once she trusts you, she will shower you with affection, often giving you her paw, cuddling next to you, or exposing her belly for a rub. She loves belly rubs, especially when four hands are giving her one! Tahsis is an amazing companion, and I feel lucky to have spent the holidays with such an intelligent, affectionate, and joyful dog.
