Tattor’s take on August:

Where did the summer go?! With one of my raisers being a teacher, the other taking a vacation, and full of school-aged kids, August meant a change in my routines as well. I had all sorts of ‘holiday’ experiences: Amazing stays with two different sitters – this meant visiting different workplaces, provinces (I’m always happy to holiday in my birth province!), and taking part in fabulous opportunities to be social and exposed to a variety of situations (music festivals, camping, hikes, and lots of humans). My sitters were fabulous, and I love how I get to be cared for and taught by so many people. It takes a village. This month, my sitters worked hard with me on not carrying goodies around with me (I thought delivering the odd shoe was a good thing?!), perching, and jumping up onto platforms.

Camping has become one of my new favourite things. Sure, it can be a bit chilly in the morning, but this means more cuddles with my favourite humans. You’ll notice from the photos that I am an excellent cooler guard dog.

Her raiser would like to add:

Tattor is one smart cookie. She is a quick-learner, which works to her advantage (and disadvantage sometimes – when she out smarts her raiser, and we have to re-evaluate who is training who!). 🙂 She is working on being a bit less ‘mouthy’ when it’s playtime, and learning how to join in the fun and games in a good way. She is improving her duration for sit and down, and making a stronger link to the verbal cue for ‘stand’. She is a master at embracing change in her routines, a pro at ‘bed’, and doesn’t blink an eye when we play Calm Cookie or It’s Yer Choice. The return to routine this September will have us bringing our focus back to heel and side, as well as levelling up on her loose leash walking – always room for growth. All in all, Tattor is doing great!
