November brought winter’s arrival to Calgary, and Tattor couldn’t be more thrilled about it! She’s discovered that snow—especially when it’s actively falling—is absolutely magical. She’s become a faithful companion on the daily school walks, keeping her little humans company through the cold. While she’s adjusted beautifully to wearing her boots and jacket on the chilliest days, she’s also made it clear that she has opinions: given the choice between trudging through deep snow or sticking to a nicely shoveled pathway, she’ll take the cleared route every time! The snow has also opened up a whole new world of smells to investigate, and Tattor is here for all of it.
In puppy class this month, Tattor worked on staying calm while moving away from her handler—practicing around cones and chairs to build confidence and independence. At home, we’re reinforcing that her “bed” is a safe, comfortable place to settle, even when her people are moving around doing everyday tasks like laundry. Turns out, underfoot isn’t always the best spot for a rapidly growing pup! And growing she is—Tattor is in a phase where she spends much of her day sleeping and contentedly chewing her toys as her body catches up with all the changes.
Tattor also spent a week with PADS volunteer Carey this month, seamlessly adjusting to a new home, workplace, and routine. She continues to prove just how adaptable and easygoing she is—her village keeps growing, and she loves every minute of it!
One of the month’s highlights was an adventure out to Sibbald Public Lands to pick out a Christmas tree. Tattor navigated meadows, logs, and deep snow up a hillside with curiosity and enthusiasm. The excitement didn’t stop there—she was equally intrigued when the tree made its way indoors, and the decorating began. Holiday magic through a puppy’s eyes is something special!
Tattor has also discovered a new superpower this month: lying on her back with her belly in the air is a guaranteed way to earn squeals of delight and endless belly rubs. She’s still getting used to her rapidly changing size—spaces she used to fit into comfortably now require a bit of backing out, and tight turns aren’t quite as easy as they used to be. But she’s taking it all in stride, as always.
All in all, Tattor is loving life and embracing everything November threw her way. We can’t wait to see what December has in store!
Until next month!
