October was full of new experiences, festive fun, and lots of opportunities for Tattor to practice her growing skills. So much fun was had that we’re late writing about our October adventures! With Halloween in full swing, she got plenty of exposure to new environments, costumes, decorations, and excited little humans. Dressed as the world’s cutest hot dog, Tattor joined a crew of eight children for trick-or-treating and handled all the sights and sounds with her usual easygoing confidence—never giving the excitement a second thought, just happy to be part of the crew.
A province-wide teacher strike meant the kids were home more than usual, and Tattor certainly didn’t mind the extra attention. All that bonus kid time meant more cuddles, more helpers, and lots of willing participants to call her in every direction as she worked on mastering “this way.”
In puppy class, she focused on calmly entering and exiting vehicles, building comfort and consistency with this important skill. At home, we’ve also introduced a new special dumbbell toy to start putting her love of carrying things to good use – laying early groundwork for purposeful retrieval behaviours.
Tattor also enjoyed visits and adventures with PADS volunteers Kim and Robyn, who are eagerly preparing for the arrival of their own PADS pup. She was more than happy to be the centre of attention! She loves her village! We also managed to fit in a few more hikes before the snow gets to be too much in the mountains. Tattor is always happy to lead the pack, no matter how long the trail!
Thanksgiving brought another big learning opportunity: hosting a dinner with over thirty guests. Tattor took her role seriously, greeting people politely and then settling beautifully on her “bed” to observe all the commotion from a calm, comfy spot. It was a wonderful chance to stretch her duration and remain relaxed amid the bustle.
As always, Tattor tackled every new experience with curiosity, enthusiasm, and that signature blend of sweetness and smarts. She’s growing beautifully, and we can’t wait to see what November brings.
Until next month!
