ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

Moving through Canine Fitness Month like 🐶

Running, jumping, swimming, playing with friends - these are all ways that our dogs stay fit and healthy throughout their training. Their raisers also focus on helping them to build skills like loose-leash walking, balance, navigating uneven surfaces, and even staying still. All of this combined helps leads to happy, healthy service dogs!

Our caring Quiche is making an incredible impact at Scott Creek Middle School 🐶

Her partner tells us that students feel more relaxed and grounded, knowing that Quiche is there to provide unconditional support. Her calming presence provides comfort and security, and her gentle companionship encourages anxious students to open up during counselling sessions.

National Pet Day Spotlight - Very Important Pets 🐶

Not every dog wants a working life, and for those that tell us that a career isn’t for them, the PADS humans work hard to find them other options. One of these options is the life of a Very Important Pet (VIP).

PADS VIP dogs are placed with individuals or families who have a disability and could benefit from a highly trained and loving companion, but don’t need a Service Dog. VIPs don’t have public access rights, but their furever families still experience the transformative power of canine companionship ✨

These dogs get to live fulfilling and loving lives just like our working dogs do. And some (like Taliyah) even get the added benefit of couch privileges.

Even when they’re not in the classroom, PADS team AJ and Cello continue to inspire. This duo recently raised $1000 for their local library, donating a quarter for every book the kids at their school read. We think 4000 books is pretty amazing!

They also didn’t hesitate to take a moment out of their day to talk with this youngster, who was curious about Cello. We love special moments like these 💖 Thank you, AJ and Cello, for being such great ambassadors for PADS.

It’s pretty magical the difference a dog can make ✨

Abra’s partner is late deafened, meaning that without the environmental awareness she used to know, navigating the world alone can be unsettling. But with Abra by her side, she’s confident.

Not only does Abra alert her partner to important sounds, she also provides stress relief and so much joy. “You can’t help but smile when you see her happy face.”
