In July, Triton spent time in the UBC area while his Advanced Sitters got away for some summer holidays. A perfect chance for him, too, to take a short break from his University training! He enjoyed daily romps in Camosun Bog and Pacific Spirit Park, countless strolls through the neighbourhood and local business districts, a visit with his friends at Maynard Stables, a garden party at Favourite Person Susanβs house (where he played with his old pal Tessa the Spaniel) and many public access field trips – including Safeway, Home Depot, Tsawwassen Mills Mall, Petco, Canadian Tire, Womenβs Hospital, VCC Campus, Robson Street and Westbrook Village. Triton was quick to adjust to his surroundings from the start and, throughout his stay, demonstrated lovely household manners, off-switch, skill range and companionship. While R & R was high on the agenda, Triton did work hard on his stability harness positions (focusing on stillness and smooth transitions) and on his retrieving (focusing on variety & hold/carry durations.) Also, his daily activities and field trips helped him keep all his behaviours, skills and durations sharp and at the ready. Super fun – Triton celebrated his 2-year birthday this July and got to wear his special Pirate Hat for the second time!!
For two weeks, Triton was joined at his summer digs by Spunky Girl PADS Raekin. They had a blast together, becoming fast friends and the greatest Tug Team ever! Living together also gave them a chance to do some parallel, pairs and trade-off training, where they practiced taking turns, stationing & settling. Triton set a magnificent example throughout all sessions, proving how much he has learned and matured in his first 3 months of Advanced Training with Team Lisa!
