Valentino and I have been exploring our new neighbourhood more and more. Having got used to passing deer, we are now seeing and hearing ducks and frogs on the pond across from our house. He sits and quietly observes, checking in for positive reinforcement. We regularly cross wooden bridges and grates, so we encounter new surfaces.
Sharing a booth with VAST at CPS for Petfest for the second year running was a huge success. The public attendance doubled, and we sure noticed that with line-ups to pet the dogs and allow us to talk about PADS. We attended both Saturday and Sunday mornings, and I certainly found it exhausting, so I’m sure the dogs did also, especially those that worked a full day. Chantel was literally Wonder Woman pulling this off, attending from set up Friday lunchtime to takedown Sunday afternoon and present throughout, even presenting and talking about the dogs in the arena, quite an undertaking on top of her other responsibilities, so whooooooooo Chantel.
Valentino went for a visit to Viv, another raiser, to spend the week with her in her junior high school. Not sure being an AFD dog is quite his vocation, but a great experience all the same.
To wrap it up, of course, we attended the seniors Easter Tea Party, he brings a smile to all that attend, one lady said just having him here and watching him, brings a sense of calm, not necessarily needing that physical touch, but that his presence made a difference. We fully intend to keep up with training and fine-tuning existing skills as well as gaining more, work on our stand duration and being ready for Pads University (but of course enjoying our walks, hikes, off leash, swimming) and attending all the fun fundraising events we possibly can.
