Valentino May have a lady’s name, but he is a boy through and through. Arriving after a long journey from BC, we spent the first few days just chilling and introducing Tino to his big sisters, Callie and Stella and his feline friends, Hugo and Nova.

Turns out he is a smart cookie but has a stubborn streak. I couldn’t figure out why he didn’t want to leave our driveway to go on a walk?? 2 days later; it dawned on me that he wanted to be in charge and not leashed. So we have overcome this obstacle, and the leash walks are going great.

Tino has been on a visit with his big sister Callie to CPS Vast, where he caused quite a puppy commotion. We are all thoroughly enjoying every aspect, especially the zoomies and all that comes with a tiny puppy- it’s so short-lived. He has been sleeping through the night for a few weeks, and it’s honestly the best feeling that first night. He is an incredibly loud snorer, but a sleeping snorer is better than a whining puppy.

I know I have my work cut out and will embrace every obstacle and learn from it. At the same time, celebrating success and new achievements are by far, the best days ever.

In March, we will begin some adventure walks and practice recalls until I’m certain he will come back before going near an off-leash. Introduce some new stores, outings, and environments. This is just the beginning of Valentino’s journey to one day make a difference.
