Well, here we go, and I can hardly believe Valentino is already 20 months old and heading to Puppy University in 2 weeks’ time. After our walk and talk with Jamila, we have been doing exactly what she suggested, such as maintaining learned skills but having more fun, visiting favourite walks and saying goodbye to the many, many people whom Tino visited regularly.
So we have had pool parties, River walks, off-leash and agility courses. He is admired by many, saying how handsome he is, and I absolutely agree; he needs to be on a PADS Calgary Calendar.
From a strong-willed little 8-week-old puppy, refusing to go on leash walks as he wanted to walk himself, so how did we work things out? Well, with food, of course and a little compromise to begin with.
He has brought me immense joy and so much fun and laughter; he really has the best personality. He loves to work, to please and to be rewarded, then he can be an absolute goof. He loves to help with everything I’m doing, retrieving items, and he really has been my best buddy and companion.
I will miss his enthusiastic good morning and evening snugs on his bed; he really loves a good hug.
I hope I have prepared him for his next adventure and journey in becoming a fully accredited service dog. I can’t say how proud I will be.
A final pic of a super special pup, Valentino (The Perfume Litter).
