Our first public event this month was the RCMP Veterans Golf Tournament and fundraiser. Sadly, the weather prevented any golf, but guests were understanding, and as they say, “The show must go on.” And indeed it did, with a fabulous auction, and Tino and I did the rounds, visiting with guests. Tino is very enthusiastic with his polite greetings and just wants to share his hugs and love with everyone. It created lots of laughter and conversations regarding the process of a PADS dog from birth to placement.
We enjoyed an in-person training class, and it was great to see fellow raisers and get Tino weighed.
Valentino and Callibri from the CPS VAST team attended the memorial ball hockey tournament held annually in memory of Sgt Andrew Harnett.
A great training opportunity with a big, busy and noisy outdoor event, he handled it well, and most importantly, shared puppy love and raised PADS awareness.
With some visits to the Children’s, he is becoming well known and often requested to attend with Callie. He is learning how to read a situation and behave accordingly, with guidance, of course. For a dog with high drive, his ability to stay in one spot and fairly still is increasing in length, and I’m super proud of him.
Finally, with schools commencing their new school year, Tino has resumed his visits and brightens everyone’s day, whether it’s students or teachers.
He is an absolute joy to raise and is so happy, positive, smart, and eager to learn, and when rewarded, happy is an understatement.
