VOLUNTEER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Hello PADS Volunteers,
We are proud to announce the launch of our Volunteer Advisory Committee! The purpose and role of this committee is to:
- Identify areas of growth and make recommendations within volunteer programs
- Support volunteer engagement
- Support and promote PADS core values as they relate to volunteer programs
- Report on activities to the PADS Board of Directors
This will be a limited committee made up of 1 to 2 PADS staff and approximately 5 PADS volunteers. Volunteer Committee Members will serve for an initial 2-3 year term, and following terms will be for 2 years. Ideally, we aspire to have the following committee representation:
- Regional representatives from West Coast, Okanagan, and Calgary region.
- Representatives from across PADS programs including:
- Puppy-Raising Program
- Breeding Program
- Administrative (Campus, fundraising and events volunteers)
- Advanced training program
Special care will be taken to ensure equity, diversity and inclusion within the committee.
As you can imagine, it can be difficult to achieve representation in all the categories mentioned above but we will strive to do so. Committee members will be selected based on:
- A volunteer and PADS member in good standing (or willing to become a member if chosen to serve on the committee)
- Consistently demonstrates PADS core values
- Minimum of one year volunteering with PADS
- Brings diversity of skills and experience to the committee
- Application/Nomination is endorsed by current staff & committee members (this step will be completed during the nomination review process – nominators/nominees do not need to do this themselves)
We encourage you to consider nominating yourself or another volunteer who you feel would be an asset to this committee. If you are nominating another person, please make sure to discuss this with them beforehand, so that they are aware and agree to being nominated. A link to the nomination form is below, and the initial application deadline is May 10th, 2024.
We look forward to hearing from you!
