ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Ktunaxa ɁamakɁis (Ktunaxa), Ĩyãħé Nakón mąkóce (Stoney), Niitsítpiis-stahkoii ᖹᐟᒧᐧᐨᑯᐧ ᓴᐦᖾᐟ (Blackfoot / Niitsítapi ᖹᐟᒧᐧᒣᑯ), Tsuut’ina & Michif Piyii (Métis) Nations, and the Syilx Okanagan People.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

She doesn’t know it yet, but this puppy could grow up to change the life of a person living with PTSD 🐶

June is PTSD Awareness month. Since 2018, we’ve been raising and training dogs to support first responders and veterans through our PTSD program. These dogs are trained to pick up on early signals of stress and anxiety, and interrupt these symptoms before they escalate. Our clients often report how much their world opens up once they have a PADS partner by their side.

We’re proud to help remove barriers for people living with PTSD, and to continue to break down the stigma around mental health.

If you’d like to learn more and help support the PTSD program, head to the link in our bio.

The first Sunday in June marks Canadian Armed Forces Day, a day to celebrate the contributions of Canadian military personnel, past and present.

PADS Towhee and PADS Pip, along with all the PADS humans, would like to extend our gratitude to all who have served with the goal of building a better world. We're proud to serve those who have served us, and to be able to provide life-changing service dogs for veterans so that they can feel safe in a world that they've helped to protect.

We'd also like to thank organizations like the @legionbcyukon and @tplfoundation, who share in this work and help to make our mission possible.

Winning medals and winning hearts ✨

Team Ky were bound to hit it off from the start. PADS Ky, named for @kyliemasse, and Marni, head coach of the Canadian senior women's wheelchair basketball team, were matched last year, and quickly changed each others lives. Ky’s hard-working nature and kind heart support Marni both mentally and physically. “He helps me daily” says Marni, “I cannot imagine my life without him.”

Read more of Team Ky’s story through our bio.
