Hello Village,
It has been a few months since you last heard from me. You last heard that I was out on summer vacation and spending time out and about with more free time away from work. Over the summer, I continued to practice all my skills and brush up on the basics. Human says a good foundation is always a priority. I’m not too sure what she was getting at, but it involved food, so I was happy! As the weather was so nice, the human and I, made sure to spend lots of time outside at parks or hiking local trails. I even impressed the human so much as I wasn’t walking like a slug and confidently manoeuvred my walk through the rocks and roots along the paths. I made up for it as I always curled up in a ball at the lookout to recharge my batteries.
Human and I spent lots of time getting to know each other, going to puppy classes, and chatting with the trainers. They all let me know, that it was up to me to decide what I wanted to do. So, while I came to human as a layover to Advanced Training, I really spent the time figuring out what I wanted and showing everyone what made me happy. So, I made the human have a chat with the important boss trainers to advocate on my behalf. Everyone agreed that they wanted to see me thrive and live the best life possible. I sent in my formal request to the PADS adoption team requesting the following “must haves”:
- Endless cuddles, bonus points if snuggled up to humans on a bed or a couch.
- Meals in a bowl. I’m not sure what it is about my food in the bowl, but it’s my favourite way to start the day and my signal to wind down for the night. What can I say, I’m a creature of habit.
- A ball! You don’t need to even throw them as they are just the best toys to chew, especially if they squeak.
- Lots of outdoor time even if it’s just basking in the sun and sniffing all the smells.
- A family to call my own.
And guess what village, the PADS people delivered. It took some time, and I took some time to feel things out too, but I landed in my forever home in a VIP placement. Human was over the moon and excited to get the news. People have been asking her if she was disappointed I never made it to Advance Training as that was the plan. The human said it’s quite the opposite. The human says the most important part is seeing me at my happiest, where I can love my people and spread my special magic by just being me.
To my PADS village, thank you for making sure I find my true path, a forever home to call my own.
-Duchess
