ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

🐾 FIELD TRIP ALERT! 🚨🐶 Nova, Texas, and Thunder—three of our amazing dogs-in-training recently took a paws from their lessons to explore the Vancouver Police Museum! 🕵️‍♂️🐾 Why a museum visit? It's all part of their exposure training. New sights, smells, and environments help our future assistance dogs build confidence and stay focused—no matter where life takes them with their future partners. The PADS pups have been at the pitch gaining possession of everyone’s hearts ⚽️❤️ Our Assistance Dog Development Squad have been hard at work at BC Place, honing the skills that great assistance dogs need. Navigating crowds and remaining calm amongst the chaos is all part of a days work for these heroes-in-training - as is sharing their mission and melting hearts. Together, this team is full of beans! Dave is no stranger to PADS, having been one half of Team Jasper for more than 9 years. When Jasper retired and going out without a dog began to feel empty, Dave knew he was ready for a successor. PADS Beans III stepped up to fill Jasper’s paw prints, and has done so phenomenally ❤️ Dave reports that Beans has proven to be a loving, loyal, and incredibly intelligent companion. Her energy and joy is contagious. Double tap to boop this high-flying snoot PADS Tope, Piper IV, and Fiddle recently took a field trip with their Advanced trainers to @yvrairport. While they didn't board any flights (this time), they did get lots of practice navigating busy crowds, things on wheels, food court smells, and loud noises. It's International Happiness Day and we thought we'd celebrate by sharing this update from Rochester Elementary's Chief Happiness Officer, PADS Smore Smore’s partner reports that this sweet boy has quickly become an integral part of school life. He helps calm students in need of regulation breaks, encourages mindful moments, and comforts parents dropping off children at school for the first time. He’s a natural at teaching patience, compassion and care, and his unconditional love and friendly personality is contagious.
