ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

Winning medals and winning hearts ✨

Team Ky were bound to hit it off from the start. PADS Ky, named for @kyliemasse, and Marni, head coach of the Canadian senior women's wheelchair basketball team, were matched last year, and quickly changed each others lives. Ky’s hard-working nature and kind heart support Marni both mentally and physically. “He helps me daily” says Marni, “I cannot imagine my life without him.”

Read more of Team Ky’s story through our bio.

POV: you’re the Puppy Photographer 📸

Getting 8-week old puppies to sit still and look at the camera for their yellow vest photos takes skill (in the form of silly noises, puppy voice, and lots of kibble).

#PADSBehindTheScenes

Video description: a young black Lab puppy sits and tilts her head at the camera. The words “expectations vs…” show on the screen. The video then transitions into clips of young Lab puppies being coaxed into sitting and looking at the camera with the words “reality” overlaid on top.

Witnessing firsthand the comfort and strength that PADS Vader brought to her daughter, Rose became a dedicated supporter of the PTSD Service Dog Program. To honour Rose and her unwavering support, Team Vader is generously matching donations made from now until National PTSD Awareness Day.

Join us in celebrating Rose’s legacy, and give a gift that changes lives through our bio.

From puppy-raiser to dream team 😍

For Sequin’s partner, accepting that her hearing loss had got to the point where she needed help was hard. Realizing the incredible impact that an assistance dog can have, however, was easy. After witnessing this impact firsthand as a puppy raiser, she was matched with PADS Sequin as a client.

She says of their match: “What I imagined hasn't been even close to what I am now experiencing with my sweet Sequin.” Sequin provides a sense of safety and the confidence to face a quieted world. “She has given me back a sense of independence that I had lost with my hearing, and for that, I will be forever grateful.”
