ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Ktunaxa ɁamakɁis (Ktunaxa), Ĩyãħé Nakón mąkóce (Stoney), Niitsítpiis-stahkoii ᖹᐟᒧᐧᐨᑯᐧ ᓴᐦᖾᐟ (Blackfoot / Niitsítapi ᖹᐟᒧᐧᒣᑯ), Tsuut’ina & Michif Piyii (Métis) Nations, and the Syilx Okanagan People.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

September is National Service Dog Month, and we’ September is National Service Dog Month, and we’re going back to service dog basics. So let’s start at the beginning: What exactly is a service dog?

A service dog is a dog that has been trained to perform tasks that support an individual with a disability. At PADS, we train two types of service dogs: Mobility Service Dogs, and PTSD Service Dogs. Other schools may train other types of service dogs such as Autism or Medical Alert Service Dogs.

Stay tuned for future posts, where we’ll dive into what tasks our Mobility and PTSD dogs are trained to do!

We'd like to extend a big thank you to everyone wh We'd like to extend a big thank you to everyone who supported our International Assistance Dog Week campaign in August.

Your generosity helped raise over $54,000, which will go towards training and placing incredible dogs like @padsthorin in communities that need them. Every single gift made to this campaign will change a life. Thank you again to George Provost, for matching every donation.

We couldn't be more grateful 💙💛
