ACCESSABILITY WEEK

May 29, 2024

National AccessAbility Week is May 26 to June 1, 2024!

The theme of AccessAbility week this year is Forward Together: Accessibility and Inclusion for All, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to create a barrier-free Canada.

PADS is excited to announce that we have been helping Lime launch anΒ initiative aimed at keeping sidewalks clear for all pedestrians, particularly those with physical mobility challenges or those who are blind or have low vision.

Lime shared with our team that they recognize the importance of working with partners to address accessibility issues and is committed to promoting inclusivity and safety for all members of the community. As part of this initiative, Lime is encouraging its riders to actively participate in keeping sidewalks clear when riding or parking.Β

To facilitate this effort, Lime has affixed stickers on all its vehicles (see image), reminding riders of the importance of sidewalk accessibility and the impact of blocked pathways on individuals with disabilities. Additionally, Lime will be reaching out to riders to further educate and encourage responsible riding behaviour. Through these efforts, Lime aims to raise awareness about the need for sidewalk accessibility and foster a community-wide commitment to creating a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone.

Thank you Lime for helping to create a barrier-free Canada!

ABOUT NATIONAL ACCESSABILITY WEEK

From May 26 to June 1, 2024, we celebrate the valuable contributions and leadership of Canadians with disabilities, along with the efforts of allies, organizations, and communities working to remove barriers and foster a more accessible, inclusive Canada for all.

This year, the theme for National AccessAbility Week is “Forward Together: Accessibility and Inclusion for All,” emphasizing the need for collective efforts to create a barrier-free Canada. Our country’s strength lies in the diversity of its peopleβ€”all its peopleβ€”and we can all contribute to this vision.
