CADENCE assisted with Walk & Talks this month with PADS Assessment Coordinator Emma. She acted as a distraction dog for some of the pups and was a great role model, keeping her composure even when the puppies got very excited to see her. Cadence continues to work on sharpening her obedience cues. Her favorite training activity is visiting all kinds of people; she makes friends everywhere she goes! Cadence is particularly sweet with children and got a chance to practice being calm and gentle while she was being brushed by a young child, even staying calm while she brushed out the sticky burrs she picked up on a hike! When she is not working hard, Cadence loves going for hikes with Emma, PADS puppy-in-training Benelli and Emma’s assorted pups.

  • Skills being learned: β€˜Visit’, transferring all skills and obedience cues to novel handlers, β€˜leave it’ games, impulse control work around bodies of water.
  • Recent field trips: Lougheed Mall, Home Depot, assisting with assessments in various locations, ferry trip to Vancouver Island, various grocery stores, shopping malls and movie theaters.
  • Possible behavior challenges: Some scavenging for food item, begging for food from strangers, separation anxiety.
  • Potential career path: AFD

Thank you again for all your support of Advanced Dog Cadence!
