Edith here. What a long month April has been. I did so much that I can barely remember it all. Anyway, some highlights. I turned one. The birthday celebration seemed to last a week. Firstly I went to a daffodil festival and saw lots of flowers and my raiser chatted to lots of people. Then I went for a long walk with 5 of my friends, and we stayed on leash and walked nicely through a forest and saw squirrels and ducks. Then granny fell over, and I had to go to ER and sit and wait for a few hours and then sit and wait at hers for a few hours. Then we visited every day, and I quickly learned that I had to lie in my corner and not get in the way, so I caught up on some sleep. For Easter, I went to my favourite sitter, and she took me out to a coffee shop, and I met some other PADS dogs at the shop. They tell me to keep quiet when I see another dog, and most of the time, I do. When I’m really excited, I just can’t help myself and bark a little. I’ve been doing more leash walks and have been to the shops, the mall, the lake, the recreation center, high school, elementary school and I really love kids squeaky voices. My trainer met us at the mall and watched everything I did and made notes about how I was doing.
Another thing I really like is watching the crows and pigeons. Sometimes I look out of the car window when I’m sitting in the footwell nicely and watch the birds on the wires. Now that I’m one, I have to work extra hard on ignoring people, which is easy when they ignore me. I have to practice lying quietly when we’re out, and everyone else is chatting and eating and ignoring me. It’s not easy, but I am trying hard to do just that. Yesterday I went to the hospital laboratory and waited very nicely for 15 minutes, then I went to the hospice unit and visited some of the nurses, and they were so happy to see me. Next month I’m going to have a really big adventure, and I will tell you all about it next month.
