HOT DOG! Literally, i’m soooo hot…summer is a scorcher on my growing puppy paws 🙂 Here’s what I’ve been up to:

I got to hang out with my dad, PADS Cleat! It’s hard to contain my excitement around other dogs, we human did some training with me.
Also, they traded leashes, and I was handled by someone different! Dad’s human says I’m doing well so far.

Human had to get her 2nd COVID vaccine, so I went along for the experience. Since I’m an early riser, human booked a morning appointment, so the line-up was pretty short. She brought me lots of treats since we had to wait for the shot, and then 15 minutes afterwards. Lots of people walked by me and I ignored most of them 🙂

Human has taken me to the office a few times. There was a sad event at work, so I was given some “free” time to cuddle with the people to cheer them up. On another day, human had to bring the kennel and leave me in it for a few hours while she did work. It took me awhile to settle down, but at least there was air conditioning so i stayed cool.

The little people had summer school, so I still got to see lots of kids who really enjoy petting me. I’m getting pretty good at keeping all my paws on the ground and not jumping on them. The littlest person also had bike camp in July, so human took me a few times for drop-off…lots of kids riding bikes, getting sprayed with hoses, and loud music.

I’ve been losing a few of my puppy teeth – human is pretty happy about that for some reason…go figure 😛 I also got my 16 week vaccinations, so human has taken me to the doggy park. The first couple times it was just me in the enclosure…i guess not many dogs get up at 6 a.m. on the weekend. who knew?! Then I got to visit in the evenings twice…i still have a lot to learn about manners. I’m a bit too big to play with small dogs (and i’m VERY high energy…did you know I can jump REALLY high!), but the big adult dogs are a bit too bossy for me…i’ve been knocked over by one and it hurt!

I’ve learned a few verbal commands: Better Go, Let’s Go, Kennel, Out, Sit, and Leave It. Human has been luring me into a few other random positions: Perch, Down, Heel, Side. She started to use the Down verbal command, but I don’t always offer the behaviour yet…I’m still learning 😛

That’s been my summer so far! I’m looking forward to my 2nd in-person class and a Walk & Talk (whatever that is!) in August.
