ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

This week is #InvisibleDisabilitiesWeek!

Invisible disabilities (as the name implies) are those that you won't see when you first meet someone. For example, hearing loss or PTSD are those most commonly understood; however, there are others, such as mobility challenges, medical conditions, etc.

💙 During this week, we want to honour our many clients with invisible disabilities and encourage you to learn more, particularly the ways we can support those who live with unseen challenges. Together, we can create a more inclusive society where all individuals, regardless of their disabilities, are acknowledged and empowered.

🎃 One week away from Pups and Pumpkins! 🎃

Don’t be frightened - these little ghosts (@padstaj & @padscasper 👻) are more likely to lick your face than haunt your house. The Dagerpaatch is on its way next week, bringing back more of the pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, toe-tapping good times you know and love.

Join us from Oct 24th through the 27th and pick out a pumpkin to carve in support of our (currently) spooky life-changers, who offer support for people with disabilities and community care providers

The Dagerpaatch will be open for carving from 12-7pm all four days. On Friday, we are joined by @jewelepp_music.
Saturday and Sunday @aymamacitayvr is bringing the good eats.

Thanks to the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation, Team Mango is helping Coquitlam students feel calmer and happier at school!

His partner Sara shared with us how his first few weeks of school are going and how he has made a difference in the lives of the children in the school where she works.

"Mango has been a wonderful addition to the Montgomery community. Parents have reported that their children are so excited to talk about the Mango at home. Through our daily announcements on MS Teams, we are able to share a daily photo update of Mango’s daily life with the entire school. The morning announcements and Mango’s many visits with students have helped everyone to feel strongly connected to Mango. His presence brings a warm smile to everyone, but every day Mango has helped to calm students when they are feeling overwhelmed or upset. His presence provides an immediate calming effect, and his wagging tails brings a giggle and much needed release. Students are working hard to ensure that no food is left on the ground so that he is not tempted to eat something he shouldn’t, and they do a great job of asking for permission before petting Mango. This helps Mango not get overwhelmed by too many people. He is has become a great example of how we want to treat each other… with kindness, care and a big heart. Mango is simply magnificent."
