ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

A Chickpea check-in in preparation of National Puppy Day! Chickpea has been hard at work learning all the important skills she'll need as an amazing assistance dog. She's been attending puppy classes, exploring new places, and meeting lots of new friends.

Double tap to boop this high-flying snoot

PADS Tope, Piper IV, and Fiddle recently took a field trip with their Advanced trainers to @yvrairport. While they didn't board any flights (this time), they did get lots of practice navigating busy crowds, things on wheels, food court smells, and loud noises. And of course, plenty of passengers (as well as staff) were happy to see them at work.

It's International Happiness Day and we thought we'd celebrate by sharing this update from Rochester Elementary's Chief Happiness Officer, PADS Smore

Smore’s partner reports that this sweet boy has quickly become an integral part of school life. He helps calm students in need of regulation breaks, encourages mindful moments, and comforts parents dropping off children at school for the first time. He’s a natural at teaching patience, compassion and care, and his unconditional love and friendly personality is contagious.

It’s puppy season! We’ve had an influx of new puppies join the PADS village, and we’re excited to share their life-changing journeys with you.

In about 8 weeks, our youngest furriends will join their Puppy-Raisers and begin their training. There’s just one problem - we’re out of puppy-sized collars.

We'd like to take a moment to introduce our newest furriend from @warriorcanineconnection, PADS Kashtin! Kashtin met his new puppy-raiser this week and has started his journey to becoming a life-changing assistance dog.

Kashtin's first year of training is kindly being supported by @oyfportmoody. We're happy to report he's already practicing his flow (mostly in order to achieve the comfiest nap).
